Due to audience demand, Theatre Or* has extended the run of its production, Kindertransport, by Diane Samuels, produced in collaboration with the Mizel Arts and Culture Center (MACC) at the JCC, 350 South Dahlia, through December 14. Performances on December 11 and 13th at 7:30 p.m., and on December 14, at 2:00 p.m. have been added. Tickets remain for all performances except the sold-out performance of Nov. 15 and may be purchased on-line at http://maccjcc.org/jaamm-festival or by calling the box office at 303-316-6360.

Kindertransport is the moving story of a Kindertransport refugee who wants to bury her past, and her relationship with her daughter, who insists on knowing her mother's history in order to forge her own identity. Post-show discussions have been added to every performance through Nov. 22, and additional ones can be requested for groups of 10 or more. In addition, Theatre Or will assist interested organizations in booking one of Denver area's local kindertransport area child survivors for meaningful insight into living history.

Sunday, November 9th, was the anniversary of Kristallnacht, the Nazi program which was the catalyst for the kindertransport rescue mission, which transported 10,000 children to safety in England from Germany, Austria, and other countries, prior to the onset of World War II. Most of these children never saw their parents again. Luckily six of Denver's kindertransportees were reunited with their parents. They were honored at a special performance of Kindertransport on Sunday, which also commemorated Kristallnacht, and participated in a post-show discussion with audience members and production artists. Other Holocaust survivors were also recognized along with their descendants, and tribute was paid to Denver theatre icon Henry Lowenstein, kindertransport passenger, who passed away October 7, and was to have participated with them.

Kindertransport, directed by Richard H. Pegg, features well-known local actors Margaret Amateis Casart, Lauren Dennis, Zoe Miller, Jaimie Morgan, Theresa Dwyer Reid, and Guy Williams. Michael R. Duran designs set, Karalyn Star Pytel, lights, and Ann Piano, costumes. Bonnie Greene stage manages.

Theatre Or aims to introduce works that the entire community would not ordinarily see anywhere else and is one of a handful of theatres in the U.S. that develops and produces American premieres of Israeli plays. "Our mission is to produce professional, provocative theatre with Jewish perspective and universal appeal," according to Theatre Or Producing Artistic Director Diane Gilboa.

For more information about their production or outreach program contact Theatre Or's producing artistic Director Diane Gilboa at theatreor@mindspring.com, or call 919-306-1670.
