Sophie Schlosser, who played "Molly" in Theatre Aspen's summer production of Annie, returned this week from New York City, where she had a private audition for the upcoming Broadway production of Annie.

Schlosser, who is ten, netted the callback after submitting a video audition, recorded in the Red Brick Arts Center in August. She was among thousands of entrants for the coveted roles and received an invitation two weeks ago to come audition in New York for the producers and creative team, which include director James Lapine and choreographer Andy Blankenbueller.

Summing up her audition, Schlosser said, "Mom, do you want to know, on a scale from 1 to100, how I think I did today? 99.9!" Paige Price, Theatre Aspen's Artistic Director, coached the young actress for her audition and noted, "Sophie approached this audition with the perfect mix of diligence and excitement, with a desire to have fun and to enjoy this wonderfully unique opportunity, without focusing on the outcome. What an incredible, confidence-building experience for a young performer!"

Schlosser, who has also appeared in Theatre Aspen School productions, will reprise her role as "Molly" in the Theatre Aspen production of Annie, playing at the Wheeler Opera House from December 16th - 23rd. Joining the cast is another actress who got her break with Annie, Aileen Quinn. Quinn played "Annie" in the original 1982 movie of the musical and will come to Aspen to play the con artist Lily St.Regis.

Theatre Aspen was awarded the "Outstanding Regional Theatre" Henry Award in 2009 and Alison Luff won a Best Supporting Actress Denver Post Ovation Award for her work in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Beth Malone and Joan Hess were also nominated for the Ovation Awards in 2010, for their performances in The Marvelous Wonderettes and Same Time, Next Year, respectively.

Tickets for Annie can be bought at the Wheeler Box Office by calling 970-920-5770 or online at aspenshowtix.com. For further information, visit www.theatreaspen.org.
