Theatre Aspen 2009 Summer Season Announced, Tickets On Sale Today

By:

Tickets and subscriptions for Theatre Aspen's 2009 Summer Season go on sale today, April 15th, 2009.

On the heels of a highly successful 2008 season, Artistic Director Paige Price chose a slate of shows which will offer a dynamic mix of musical, comedy and family entertainment. The repertory season kicks off with the regional premiere musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which won two Tony Awards for its smart and funny story about six young people vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime, who learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. The second musical is A Year With Frog and Toad, based on the Arnold Lobel books. The ensemble cast follows Frog and Toad through a whole year of friendship and adventures, and features a jazzy, upbeat score that all ages will enjoy. Jay Sandrich, who returns for his second season with Theatre Aspen, will direct Neil Simon's semi-autobiographical comedy Chapter Two.

Theatre Aspen will once again feature Family Nights as part of the repertory. In 2009, in addition to Friday and Saturday morning shows, Friday night is Family Night and A Year With Frog and Toad will be presented at an earlier 6:30 p.m. curtain. Families are encouraged to come to the theatre early to enjoy picnic meals and games.

Purchase tickets before June 5th to take advantage of special offers, such as the Local's Pass, Preview Pass and reduced-price Season Subscriptions.
