The Edge Theater Stages Regional Premiere of Nora Ephron's LUCKY GUY, Now thru 7/5

The Edge Theater presents "Lucky Guy" tonight, June 12 through July 5 at 1560 Teller Street in Lakewood. Performances are Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 6 p.m. Tickets are $26 and available online at www.theedgetheater.com or by calling 303-232-0363.

Lucky Guy depicts the story of journalist Mike McAlary beginning in 1985 and ending with his death at the age of 41 in 1998. The plot covers the high points and tribulations of McAlary's career as he traverses the clubby atmosphere of the New York City tabloid journalism industry prior to the 24-hour news reporting cycle.

The stellar cast includes Andrew Uhlenhopp (Mike McAlary), Dwayne Carrington (Hap Hairston), Kevin Hart (Eddie Hayes), Tupper Cullum (Michael Daly), Abby Apple Boes (Alice McAlary), Wade Livingston (John Cotter), Matthew Blood-Smyth (Jerry Nachman, Stanley Joyce), Lara Maerz (Louise Imerman, Debby Krenek), Sam Gilstrap (Bob Drury, John Miller), Michael O'Shea (Jim Dwyer, Jimmy Breslin), Jacob Abbas (Dino Tortorici) Editor #1, Reporter #1, Doctor), Max Cabot (Reporter #2, TV Crew, Editor #2) and Andre Hickman (Reporter, Abner Louima).

Writer, producer, director Nora Ephron is best known for her films Silkwood, When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, Bewitched and Julie & Julia. Her first play, "Love, Loss, and What I Wore" received positive critical attention and won the 2010 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience as well as the 2010 Broadway.com Audience Award for Favorite New Off-Broadway Play. Lucky Guy premiered in 2013, the year after her death. It was Ephron's final work and marked Tom Hanks' Broadway debut, in which he earned a Theatre World Award. The production received six nominations for Tony Awards, winning two, including Courtney B. Vance for Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play.
