The Betsy Stage Presents Original Adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth, 4/18 - 5/24

By:

With the clock running backwards in time, this is the deconstruction of a fractured woman - Beth. She is a painter and her nightmare journey, which begins with destruction, despair and darkness, "descends" in to a model of innocence. If ambition is squashed and the center of one's being must be disguised in order to achieve success what torture comes from this? And with this, the motivation for our Beth, we paint the bloody picture of her life and love.

The Betsy Stage presents "Beth" April 18 through May 24 at 1133 S. Huron St. Denver, CO 80223. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, Monday, May 5 and Thursday, May 22 at 8 p.m. All performances are FREE, donations are accepted. Reservations are required by calling 720-328-5294 or by emailing Beth@BetsyStage.com. More info at http://www.betsystage.com/

This all female cast brings the return of Patti Murtha (Sister/Doc 2), Michal Andrea Meyer (Sister), Kaitlyn Althoff (Vulnerable Beth/Sister/Ensemble), Brooks Mullen (Painter/Ensemble), Cassandra Steinhauser (Sister) and Mallory Vining (Crazy Beth/Boucher). New to The Betsy Stage are Caroline Carr (Crazy Beth/Boucher), Carolyn Demanelis (Nurse/LeBlanc), Veronika Nelson (Sister), Gina Walker (Bernard/LeBlanc/Doc1) and Chip Winn Wells (Ducard).

The Betsy Stage 2013 production of "Juliet & Romeo: The Panopticon" took place in an Orwellian environment under the watchful eye of panopticon cameras that followed citizens' every movement, even tracking cell phone usage. In November 2013, The Betsy Stage adapted Shakespeare's "King Lear" and set it in the Old West. The owner of The Scarlet Slipper Saloon, put his three favorite "working girls" to the test as he divided his kingdom in "The Travesty of Lear."

Co-Founder Samantha McDermott said, "We have three more Shakespearian adaptations after "Beth." At which point we plan to branch out into other Elizabethan authors like Ben Jonson and Christopher Marlowe. We started with Shakespeare since people are most familiar with his work."

Beki Pineda of Get Boulder wrote, "If you want to have bragging rights for finding the newest and coolest acting company in town, get to their next production."
