Shadow Theatre Company Presents World Premiere of AN EVENING WITH NINA, 11/19-12/12

By:

This November, Shadow Theatre Company proudly adds an electrifying new musical to our 14th "Sankofa" season calendar. "An Evening with Nina," written and directed by our renowned Artistic Director Hugo Sayles, features an outstanding ensemble cast of local favorites, including Stephanie Hancock, and stage newcomers like Dominique Christina and Hashim Hakim.

This production poignantly evokes the essence of African-American singer and songwriter Nina Simone, the late legendary international entertainer and civil rights activist. Known as the "Priestess of Soul," Simone influenced generations of musicians, including John Lennon, Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, John Legend, Cat Stevens, Alicia Keys, and Lauryn Hill.

"An Evening with Nina" beautifully brings her classic songs to life; treating audiences to 90 minutes of music ripped from the fabric of American history through Simone's eclectic musical style and life.

We are very excited to bring this wonderful production to the community. Be sure to make "An Evening with Nina" your next cultural and entertainment "Must Attend" event. Make your reservations early. Read the next section for more details and specific show dates and times. Please forward this message to EVERYONE on ALL your eBlast lists. They won't want to miss "An Evening with Nina!"

Synopsis:
A small and troubled singing group and their manager are hired to play an old juke joint outside of Tryon, North Carolina when what they thought would be just another gig ends up being so much more.

Just before their tribute concert to Nina
Simone they encounter a mysterious woman who seems to know all about the late Diva.

Secrets, heartache, pain and love
weave a story that promises to "put a spell on you".
