Shadow Theatre Company Offers Youth Summer Live Performance Classes 7/7-8/5
Shadow Theatre Company, in partnership with the Aurora Symphony Orchestra, will provide a journey of creative expression and awe! Classes, taught by local theatre professionals, will engage the youth in the many facets of live performance, as well as provide them with information on strategies for realizing their long term artistic goals. Classes and workshops will incorporate acting, orchestral music, dance, singing, production, stage production, writing, personal reflection, and will culminate in a show written by the participants in collaboration with a professional playwright.
The program is open to youth ages 13-18 and will run for five weeks, July 7- August 5, 2009, Tuesday - Friday between the hours of 9:30 am and 2:00 pm. The program ends with two weekend performances on Thursday-Sunday August 6th- 16th.
There is no fee for this program. The application process is competitive; requiring both an application and an audition. Students who remain in good standing will receive a stipend upon graduation from the program. Applications are due June 19th and are online at www.shadowtheatre.com.
Founded by Jeffrey Nickelson in 1997, Shadow Theatre Company has produced 44 shows and in 2008 moved into a new state of the Art Theatre in Aurora. Shadow has received countless awards including the Denver Mayors Award for Excellence in the Arts, The Aurora Chamber Business for the Arts award and numerous Denver Post Ovation Awards.
