Denver's critically acclaimed Zikr Dance Ensemble will present their new 2014 program ,"Sanctuary", at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder on Friday, June 20 at 7:30 pm and at the PACE Center in Parker on Friday & Saturday, June 27 & 28 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.

The Zikr Dance Ensemble offers a spectrum of works that are based on transcendent dance rituals from many different ancient world cultures throughout history along with original and contemporary dance/theatre realizations. This unique company aims to preserve the sheer beauty and accuracy of the historic dances, which include a number of Gurdjieff sacred movements, and along with original and contemporary works, seeks to enhance the appreciation for the unity of the human spirit and provide a unique artistic experience of the many ways that diverse spiritual and cultural traditions express creativity and wonder through dance.
The Zikr Dance Ensemble's outstanding company members are some of the finest ballet-trained professionals in the state and this year will include six guest artists from the Colorado Ballet as well as from other professional companies from along the front range. The company has received consistent standing ovations and critical acclaim over the past four years through performances in Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Parker, Carbondale, Grand Junction, Pagosa Springs, Ouray, Ridgway, Niwot, Salida, Alamosa and Crested Butte as well as in St. Paul, MN and Los Angeles.
Zikr's performances have been called " deeply moving....bringing the ancient to the new millennium...". Critics have hailed Artistic Director David Taylor's "depth of spirit and artistic vision, coupled with a degree of creativity that continues to awe."
