ON THE SPOT: New Year's Eve to Ring in 2017 with Improv Show & Fireworks

By:
2016 was a big year; Pokémon Go launched us into augmented reality, Michael Phelps became the most decorated Olympian of all time with 23 gold medals and the unthinkable happened, Beyoncé continued to rule as Queen Bee. Come celebrate an eventful year with improv comedy at Bovine Metropolis Theater in their annual On The Spot New Year's Eve celebration.

It gets cold outside celebrating the New Year, so stay inside and warm your funny bone until just moments before the big fireworks display. This year there are three showings on New Year's Eve and the evening shows are timed so that the audience can enjoy the warm laughs and still catch the fireworks displays at 9:00 and 12:00 midnight mere feet away from the front door of the Bovine. Performances are at 4:00 p.m. (shows for families or those of us with an early bedtime!) 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

This show is a great way to ring in the New Year, and is a great way to find entertainment downtown away from the swarms of New Year's revelers. On The Spot New Year's Eve strikes a great balance between fun and gut-busting entertainment, and a very funny place to ring in 2017.

"Whose Line is it Anyway" is the most familiar version of game based improv, and many of the games in "On The Spot" are similar. And like "Whose Line..." this show features a cast of close friends. The cast is throwing a party for the audience complete with noisemakers, party hats, and a heck of a good time.

"The New Year's Eve show is always a blast." Bürgermeister & Executive Director, Eric Farone said. "It's not only a blast for the players, but also the audience because they participate by giving suggestions, and any adventurous audience members can join the players onstage for a couple of games."

On The Spot New Year's Eve plays Saturday, December 31st at 4:00 p.m. for families, 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. at Bovine Metropolis Theater located at 1527 Champa Street in the heart of the Denver Theatre District. Tickets are $25 for the 4:00 p.m. show and $40 for the 7:00 and 10:00 p.m. show.

Established in 1996, Bovine Metropolis Theater is the first dedicated school and theater for improvisation in the Rocky Mountain region. The Bovine uses improvisation to create exceptional ensembles for life, business and the stage.
