Golden, CO 80401.

A masterful retelling of the original sensation, with crisp new arrangements and an injection of contemporary references, "Godspell" (2012) is every bit as delightful as the original and its uniqueness is strong enough to allow it to stand alone without eclipsing its predecessor.

Based on The Gospel According to St. Matthew, a small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a variety of games, storytelling techniques, and hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs ranging in style from pop to vaudeville is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Led by the international hit, "Day by Day," "Godspell" features a parade of beloved songs including "Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All For The Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side."

The cast includes Matt Kok (Jesus), Drew Horwitz (Judas/John the Baptist), Jacquie Jo Billings, Ashley Brown, Jenna Haimes, Leslie Randle, Felicia Tuttle, Ian McCauley, Gabriel Morales and Carter Edward Smith.

"Godspell" was the first major musical theatre offering from 3-time Grammy and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz ("Wicked," "Pippin," "Children of Eden"); and it took the world by storm. In the 1990s he wrote the stage musical Children of Eden and collaborated on three animated Disney movies: Pocahontas (1995, winning two Oscars for best song and best score), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), and The Prince of Egypt (1998, again winning an Oscar for best song). He was Oscar-nominated again (along with Disney music veteran Alan Menken) for his score to the 2007 Disney film Enchanted. He was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2010.
