GEEK OUT to Run 1/11-2/15 at Bovine Metropolis Theater

By:

With the release of another Star Trek movie and the second film in the Hobbit trilogy and the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who and The Avengers, 2013 was certainly the year of the geek. And, it looks like being geeky is about to get even cooler at the Bovine Metropolis Theater in 2014 with the return of Geek Out-back by popular demand.

Geek Out is an enthusiastic celebration of knowledge and comedy, chock full of interesting trivia, and hysterical moments of improvisation. It's a place where nerdiness is not just condoned, but encouraged.

"The show is special because it comprises expert players, who happen to be all teachers at the Bovine. They are all people who have been through our classes and now they teach the classes, so we all have the same playing philosophy," artistic director Eric Farone said. "So we all play the same way and complement each other. The guest each week is also an expert on a specific topic. They know so much about their subject, The Players are able to wind and twist it up in new, unexpected ways."

Every week a new expert, or "geek" in their field will teach the audience and Bovine School of Improv instructors about a piece of pop culture. The instructors will then improvise a hilarious and distinctly informed show on the subject.

Whether you are a Saved By the Bell aficionado or obsessed with the works of J.R.R Tolkien, Geek Out is a delightful way to revel in your geekdom and brush up on some new, nerdy subject matter.

"From the first run of the show, I've literally wanted to watch, play, and dive deeper into all of our subjects. Having someone talking about something they love makes you want to love it too," Welborn said

Geek Out plays Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and opens Saturday, January 11th through February 15th. Tickets are $16 (at door) $14 (pre-paid).

The cast will be Geeking Out over the following subjects:

January 11 - Lord Of The Rings

January 18 - The Avengers

January 25 - Twilight

February 1 - Doctor Who

February 8 - Saved By The Bell

February 15 - Star Trek

Bovine Metropolis Theater is the first dedicated school and theater for improvisation in the Rocky Mountain region and teaches the art of accepting the unknown gracefully. For more information about Bovine Metropolis Theater, call 303-758-4722 or visit their web site at www.BovineMetropolis.com
