FAC to Present MARY POPPINS, Beginning 12/11

By:

This theatrical event promises to be more elaborate, more magical, and more supercalifragilistic than any other family fare this season. The FAC's production of "Mary Poppins" will feature 22 actors, 90 costumes (all original, hand-made creations), a live orchestra and special effects so delightful, you'll believe a nanny can fly.

FAC Executive Director of Performing Arts and Producing Artistic Director Scott RC Levy helms the production, and regional opera legend Jennifer DeDominici stars in the title role.

This musical, developed by Cameron Mackintosh (of "Les Miserables" fame), captures the exuberance of the Disney film, while remaining more faithful to the original P.L. Travers' books. The score brims with such timeless classics as "Feed the Birds," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious," "Jolly Holiday," "Let's Go Fly a Kite," "Step in Time" and the Academy Award-winning "Chim-Chim Cher-ee." The story begins with jack-of-all trades Bert introducing us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again. "Mary Poppins" delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Mary Poppins will play one Thursday Preview, Dec. 11 at 7:30p and continues Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 7:30p and Saturday & Sunday Matinées at 2p. Tickets start at $20. Student Rush Tickets (one hour before any show) - $15. FAC Members must login after clicking on ticket button, purchase by phone or in person to receive member discounts.
