Lilly is an exuberant young mouse facing all-too-familiar issues at home and in school. Although she courageously stands up to bullies and delights in teaching her friends to spell backwards, Lilly still needs to learn important lessons about family, friendship and forgiveness. Through clever dialogue, fast-paced scenes, realistic characters, and yes, even cheese, the award-winning playwright Kevin Kling creates an entertaining and insightful tale.

Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse is based on a series of books by Kevin Henkes, the winner of the 2005 Caldecott medal, and offers ample opportunities to integrate theatre arts into an investigation of positive social skills, respect for the environment, and acceptance of others

The Denver Children's Theatre presents Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse March-May in newly renovated Elaine Wolf Theatre at the Mizel Arts & Culture Center (MACC), 350 S. Dahlia St., Denver, CO 80246. Family performances are 1 p.m. Sundays, March 10 - April 28 (no performance on March 31, April 14). Director Billie McBride has directed at MACC, Arvada Center, Denver Center for the Performing Arts and Colorado Springs Conservatory. For Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse she brings Denver's most accomplished adult actors, Michael Bouchard (Wilson, FBI 3), Brian Landis Folkins (Father, Mr. Slinger), Devon James (Garland, Grammy, Pregnant Mouse, FBI 2), Misha Johnson (Mother, Student, Victor), Ryan Wuestewald (Chester, FBI1, Salesman) and Missy Moore as Lilly, to the stage.

For performances spanning more than 15 years, the DCT has won kudos galore, including the 2009 Henry Award for Outstanding Children's Theatre, the Colorado equivalent of a Tony Award.
