Denver Center for the Performing Arts Hosts Their Annual Open House

By:

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts is hosting its annual Open House on Saturday, August 27 from 11am - 2pm at the Bonfils Theatre Complex. The Open House, accessible to the public for the first time, is a much anticipated look inside the DCPA and will offer activities, games and prizes for theatre lovers, families and children.

Resident artists will be on hand to talk about and show how "the magic is made" through backstage tours of one of the nation's largest performing arts centers. Visitors will enjoy prizes such as Denver Center Theatre Company and Denver Center Attractions tickets and gift certificates from The Tattered Cover, Stories on Stage, Opera Colorado, Ballet Nouveau Colorado, The Grizzly Rose, The Stampede Mesquite Grill and Dance Emporium, The Denver Art Museum, History Colorado, and Larimer Square. Additionally, visitors can get their "Passport to Theatre" punched at 10 stations while exploring the Denver Center's many facets from theatre and Broadway to special events and theatre education in order to earn a free sandwich from Jay's Hot Ticket Café.

Children will be able to participate in such games as bean bag toss, hop scotch, coloring and water painting. They will also have the chance to try on costumes, demonstrate their acting skills during the "Kids on Stage" workshop where they will be directed in short scenes, be interviewed on our "Red Carpet" and have their faces painted.

"We are so excited to invite the community into Denver's biggest and best home for theatre," says Stacy Shaw, Vice-President of Marketing and Communications. "Everyone is sure to have a great time and get the behind the scenes look at how theater is created and presented for audiences in Denver. In addition to the events listed we have some surprise happenings that are certain to entertain!"

The Open House offers the opportunity to learn more about all aspects of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts including, but not limited to, Denver Center Attractions 2012 season, DCTC 2012 season, Off-Center, Fourth Wall, student nights, New Play Summit, subscriptions, 10 Minutes to Curtain, accessible programming and how to volunteer at the DCPA.
