DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID, JR. Opens 4/18 at Theatre Aspen
Theatre Aspen School today announced upcoming performances of their Spring Youth Production of the Disney's timeless classic The Little Mermaid, Jr. The show runs at the Wheeler Opera House, from April 18th through 20th at 7:00 pm, with an additional matinee performance on Saturday the 20th at 2:00pm.
This classic Disney title contains all of the songs from the Academy Award winning animated feature film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show. The Little Mermaid, Jr. takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch and convince a prince that she's the girl with the perfect voice.
Director Graham Northrup said, "Theatre Aspen School is one of the first companies nationally to produce this newly released title. The students are very excited to make it a magical show."
The ensemble production features over 40 local kids, including Lyon Hamill as Triton, Karlie Nelson as Sebastian, Carter Graham as Scuttle, Jessie Rathbun as Ursula and Tatum Shane as Ariel along with many other talented young people.
Tickets are available through the Wheeler Box Office, at aspenshowtix.com or by calling 970-920-5770. Prices are $15 for adults and $10 for students up to age 18.
Registration for Theatre Aspen School summer camps is underway, and several classes are already more than half full. For further information or to receive a brochure, contact Graham Northrup, Theatre Aspen Director of Education, at 970-925-9313 x203. www.theatreaspen.org
