Arvada Center to Celebrate 40 Year Anniversary With a Concert By The Colorado Symphony

By:

On July 9, the Arvada Center for Arts and Humanities celebrates 40 years of exceptional art, music and theatre all taking place in its outdoor amphitheatre. The Colorado Symphony, well-known musical theatre actors and members of the Center's Musical Theatre Teen Intensive summer camp will join forces to present a concert celebrating the past while casting a glimpse towards the future. The celebration concert is sponsored by Lutheran Medical Center and Oskar Blues Brewery. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. For additional information and tickets go to http://arvadacenter.org/on-stage/colorado-symphony-arvada-center-40th-anniversary-concert or call 720-898-7200. Forty years of musicals at the Arvada Center is quite the milestone for any professional theatre. The Main Stage Theatre, Black Box Theatre and Amphitheatre combined have produced more than 170 musicals from intimate productions such as Smokey Joe's Café, to professional children's theatre including Junie B. Jones, and stunning Broadway-style productions including LES MISERABLES, Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and more. From the first musical production, Anything Goes in 1976, to the beautiful presentation of Death Takes a Holiday that recently closed the 40th season, the Arvada Center has strived both to entertain and to tell a story.

The 40th Anniversary concert features Arvada Center favorites, Lauren Shealy (White Christmas, Curtains, Miracle on 34th Street, 1940's Radio Hour), Megan Van De Hey (Death Takes a Holiday, Chess, Nine, Curtains), Daniel Langhoff (Man of La Mancha, Charlotte's Web, Ragtime), and Stephen Day (LES MISERABLES, La Cage aux Faux, She Loves Me) performing music from popular past productions. Additionally, the Colorado Symphony will be featured playing selections from West Side Story, Miss Saigon, and Oklahoma. You are bound to hear a piece from a past favorite of yours!

During the evening, a presentation will be held as dignitaries recognize the historic transition that will take place on July 1 as the Arvada Center moves from the City of Arvada to its own governing body. A brief commemorative video will also premiere celebrating the Arvada Center and highlighting accomplishments of the past 40 years.
