Human Race Theatre Company Presents PERMANENT COLLECTION, Closes 5/1

The Human Race Theatre Company will present Permanent Collection, a searing drama of conflict at an art museum at The Loft Theatre, 128 N. Main St., Dayton, April 14 through May 1, 2011.

Loosely based on the real story of the Barnes Foundation of suburban Philadelphia. The eccentric creator and benefactor of the fictional Morris Foundation takes an odd turn when he wills his important art collection to an historically black college. When the college selects an African-American businessman as the museum's director, he discovers significant African sculptures stored away and intends to display them, setting off gripping battles on both racial and artistic fronts. The Los Angeles Times called Permanent Collection "sophisticated and deft."

The special nights preceding and during the run are:
April 13 - Pay What You Can. Admission by donation of cash or food to local charities. Tickets handed out beginning at 6:30pm, first come-first served, doors open at 7:30, performance at 8.

April 14 - Preview Night and Inside Track. Reduced ticket prices. Inside Track, a talk with director Schele Williams at 7:15, curtain at 8pm.

April 15 - Opening Night. Meet the cast and enjoy goodies after the show. Curtain 8pm.

April 19 - Lite Fare at The Loft - Gourmet sandwiches, delicious desserts and other goodies from Citilites available in The Loft Theatre lobby beginning at 5:30. Curtain at 7pm.

April 24 - "While We're On the Subject," audience members are welcome to a post-show talkback with local experts and show participants after the 2pm matinee.
