Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center (KVPAC) is hosting a free Disney-inspired art workshop at KVPAC on June 26, 2010 entitled the Alamo Drafthouse Auction Art Workshop and Family Picnic Princess Meet & Greet with the New Visual Arts Director of KVPAC. A workshop that promises to be as fun as the name is long! Disney-loving artists of all ages 5+ are needed to create art that may be selected for auctioning at the upcoming July 1st screening at the Alamo Cinema Drafthouse of Disney's Waking Sleeping Beauty.

The workshop is Saturday, June 26th from 9:00am to 12:00pm at KVPAC, located at 2501 S Mason Rd. # 290, Katy, TX 77450. All supplies and professional instruction is provided. Parents must accompany their child and those under 10 years old will work with their parent on an art piece. A Family Picnic with the KVPAC Princesses immediately follows from 12:00 to 1:30pm. Admittance to the workshop is FREE, but please bring a sack lunch for the picnic. This workshop is graciously sponsored by Katy's Alamo Cinema Drafthouse.

Join KVPAC in this delightful family event and come meet KVPAC's new Visual Arts Director, Erin Fry. A native of Houston, Erin grew up in the Sugar Land area. While attending University of Houston, she taught with Arts a la Carte; a small arts school in the Greenspoint area. In 2004, Erin transferred over to The River Performing and Visual Arts Center teaching special needs children, high risk children, and their families. Her personal artistic focus is on textile and fabric arts, recycled arts, painting, photography and metalsmithing. In her spare time, Erin is still heavily involved in teaching and exposing art to both her own child and others. She is currently working on a book with her sister, a fellow art teacher and owner of The Crayon Box Studio, for "non-artistic" parents on encouraging creativity in their families.
