Broadway Vet Ron Bohmer to Co-Host 2010 COLUMN Awards Gala

BROADWAY STAR OF "RAGTIME" REVIVAL AND "PHANTOM OF THE OPERA" TO CO-HOST 2010 COLUMN AWARDS GALA

Broadway leading man Ron Bohmer will be coming to Dallas Texas to Co-host and perform at the 2010 COLUMN Theatre Awards Gala on March 8, 2010 in Dallas Texas.

THE COLUMN AWARDS is the only awards organization in the DFW area that honors excellence in theater throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. This marks their 11th year. THE COLUMN AWARDS also serves as a major fundraiser for BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS. In fact, they are the only awards organization in the United States that does this. The organization donates all money raised at the gala (after operating costs).

Bohmer has starred on Broadway and national tour as the Phantom in The Phantom Of The Opera, Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard (Jefferson Award nomination), as The Scarlet Pimpernel (National Broadway Theatre Award nomination), Alex in Aspects Of Love (LA Robby award), the evil Sir Percival Glyde in The Woman in White, Enjolras in Les Miserables, Fyedka in Fiddler on the Roof and as Coach Bolton in the cultural Phenomenon Disney's High School Musical. He most recently starred on Broadway as Father in the critically acclaimed revival of Ragtime, a role he originated at the Kennedy Center.

In a career spanning 20 years on Broadway, Ron has been privileged to work and collaborate with artists like Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jerome Robbins, Trevor Nunn, Harold Prince, John Caird, Tim Rice, Betty Comden & Adolf Green, Jerry Mitchell, Juliette Prowse, Maury Yeston, Sarah Brightman, Frank Wildhorn, Francesca Zambello Gerard AlessandriniRuth Mitchell, Terrence McNally, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty

Off-Broadway roles include - Sebastian in The Thing About Men, Howard in The Joys of Se*, the title role in The Third Person, the 10th anniversary cast of I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and multiple roles in New York's long-running comedy hit Forbidden Broadway (2005 Drama Desk award). Regional Performances include the title role in Floyd Collins at Actors Theatre of Louisville, Volodya in Bed & Sofa at the Wilma Theatre in Philadelphia (best actor nomination - Barrymore Award), the title role in the U.S. premiere of Dracula at North Shore Music Theatre,
Ravenal in Showboat (also at NSMT), Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music for the New Theatre, the title role in Phantom at Salt Lake's Pioneer Theatre, and Billy in Anything Goes at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera.

He has appeared in several television shows with roles in such series as Law & Order SVU, Rescue Me, Ryan's Hope, One Life to Live, and As The World Turns. Bohmer has recorded- 2 solo CD's, Everyman and Another Life, and the cast recordings of Ragtime (Revival cast recording), The Thing About Men, Forbidden Broadway- S.V.U.,Broadway by the Year-1929, and Broadway Unplugged 2.

As a concert soloist, Ron has appeared at Radio City Music Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, New York City's Town Hall and with Symphonies and Pops orchestras across the country. Ron is married to actress/author Sandra Joseph. He is the Father of two daughters, Cassidy and Austin. 

Executive Director/Producer/Founder of THE COLUMN AWARDS John Garcia stated today, "The Board of Directors and I are honored in having Mr. Bohmer serve as our Co-host at this year's COLUMN AWARDS. To have a star of his caliber who was just on Broadway a few months ago in the marvelous revival of Ragtime, and was the ‘Phantom' in Sir Webber's mega hit musical-well words cannot express our excitement and joy on having him here", Garcia said.

THE COLUMN AWARDS will be held at the exquisite Carpenter Hall Theater at the Irving Arts Center, 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd, Irving Texas. The Gala will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010.

Cocktail reception is from 6:00pm-7:00pm, with the awards ceremony starting at 7:00pm. General Admission ticket prices are $25.00. $50.00 includes the VIP catered reception to meet, greet, and take pictures with Mr. Bohmer.
