Amphibian Stage Productions present two new National Theatre Live screenings in association with the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. In addition to The Comedy of Errors on Thursday, March 29, Amphibian will also present screenings of Travelling Light on Thursday, February 23 and She Stoops to Conquer on Thursday, April 11. Screenings take place at 2 PM and 7 PM at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

Amphibian and The Modern also announced the upcoming screenings of Leonardo Live, the first-ever tour of a fine art exhibition created for movie theater audiences, on Saturday, February 18. This HD presentation of “Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan,” captured at the National Gallery in London, offers audiences a unique and intimate view of this once-in-a-lifetime exhibition. Screenings take place at 11 AM and 2 PM at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

National Theatre Live is The National Theatre of Great Britain’s initiative to broadcast live performances from the National’s stages to cinemas worldwide. Since its first season, which began in June 2009 with the acclaimed production of Phédre starring Helen Mirren, over half a million people have now experienced the National’s acclaimed work on movie screens around the world.
National Theatre Live performances are filmed live in high definition and broadcast via satellite to almost 400 cinemas around the world, live in Europe and some US cities, and time-delayed in countries further afield. There are over 100 venues in the UK alongside venues in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Scandinavia, and Europe. The performances at the National are nominated in advance to allow cameras greater freedom in the auditorium.

Travelling Light is on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 2 PM and 7 PM.In a remote village in Eastern Europe, around 1900, the young Motl Mendl is entranced by the flickering silent images on his father’s cinematograph. Forty years on, Motl – now a famed American film director – looks back on his early life and confronts the cost of fulfilling his dreams. Following Vincent in Brixton and The Reporter, Nicholas Wright’s new play is a funny and fascinating tribute to the Eastern European immigrants who became major players in Hollywood’s golden age.

The Comedy of Errors is on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 2 PM and 7 PM. In William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, two sets of twins separated at birth collide in the same city without meeting for one crazy day, as multiple mistaken identities lead to confusion on a grand scale. Consistently recognized by strangers, the visitors question their very selves as the turmoil escalates. Director Dominic Cooke stages this furiously paced comedy in a contemporary world.

She Stoops to Conquer is on Thursday, April 11, 2012 at 2 PM and 7 PM. Hardcastle, a man of substance, looks forward to acquainting his daughter with his old pal’s son with a view to marriage. But thanks to playboy Lumpkin, he’s mistaken by his prospective son-in-law, Marlow, for an innkeeper, his daughter for the local barmaid. The good news is, while Marlow can barely speak to a woman of quality, he’s a charmer with those of a different stamp. And so, as Hardcastle’s indignation intensifies, Miss Hardcastle’s appreciation for her misguided suitor soars. Misdemeanors multiply, love blossoms, mayhem ensues. One of the great, generous-hearted and ingenious comedies of the English language, Oliver Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer offers a celebration of chaos, courtship and the dysfunctional family.

In a first for movie audiences, the big-screen presentation of Leonardo Live gives art lovers the world over the opportunity to share in the excitement of viewing the unprecedented and historic exhibition, “Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan,” in the comfort of their local movie theater. This exhibition brings together the largest ever number of da Vinci’s paintings, including a new never-before-seen Leonardo painting.

Leonardo Live is presented by art historian Tim Marlow and presenter Mariella Frostrup, who will explore the exhibition and feature detailed examinations of the paintings and interviews with special guests and experts.

The program was captured on the eve of the exhibition opening at the National Gallery in London in November 2011, and on Saturday, February 18, 2012, Amphibian and The Modern bring this unique HD experience to North Texas audiences.

National Theatre Live screenings take place at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth at 2 PM and 7 PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for students.
