Lily Tomlin Returns to Segerstrom Center for the Arts, 6/22

An Evening of Classic Lily Tomlin brings the award-winning comedienne and one of the world's most beloved entertainers back to Segerstrom Center for the Arts on Saturday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Segerstrom Hall. Tomlin, who is currently one of the stars of ABC's new hit comedy Malibu Country with Reba McEntire, will share her celebrated talent for combining insightful and funny stand-up along with excerpts that feature some of her beloved classic characters. Immediately following her performance, she will open a brief Question & Answer period with the audience.

Segerstrom Center's Annual 'Summer at the Center' Set for 7/22 - 8/3

Segerstrom Center's 22nd annual Summer at the Center (SATC) program will be held from July 22 - August 3. This award-winning program utilizes the arts to inspire, motivate and provide high-risk and underserved youths with opportunities to interact in positive ways with their peers. A musical theater format employed by professional teaching artists creates a fun and creative environment that also encourages productive dialogue and introspection. The two-week program concludes with the students performing a Broadway revue-style show in Samueli Theater on Saturday, August 3 at 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The performances are free and open to the public; no reservations are required. All shows will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis. The performances are part of Segerstrom Center's Free for All Series, which allows guests to experience different aspects of Center's artistic and education programs at no cost. Chance Theater Opens Up Summer Youth Program SPEAK UP to All Students

This year, Chance Theater is opening up its summer youth program Speak Up - Take A 'Chance' to all students. Over five weeks, students will work collaboratively with their peers to write, design, and perform a new play under the mentorship of Chance staff, professional designers and professional actors! Led by Chance Resident Artist Tanae Beyer, this program is designed for students 12-18 years old, and runs from June 24 through July 29, culminating in two performances of their original show on July 29 and 30 at 7pm at Chance Theater. Students must register by June 15.

The slate includes Arthur Miller's American classic Death of a Salesman, the musical The Light in the Piazza and the world premiere of Rest by Samuel D. Hunter. The season concludes with the play that started it all for SCR in 1964: Moliere's Tartuffe. Season subscriptions are available now; single tickets go on sale in August.

A carnival midway of magic, mischief and theatrical thrills! Amanda Dehnert, celebrated throughout the American theatre for re-imagining classics, has added a multitude of visual delights and fantastical illusions to the original charm and beautiful ballads (like the haunting "Try to Remember") of The Fantasticks. When two scheming fathers conspire with the mysterious El Gallo to keep their daughter and son apart (to be sure they'll fall in love!) the dewy-eyed lovers venture into the real world. But as fantasy turns to reality, El Gallo is there to remind them that "without the hurt, the heart is hollow" in one of the most popular musicals of all time, which the Washington Postcalls, "Fresh and alive again."
