(02/05/2013) - Nothing inspires dreamers more than meeting those who are living theirs. Ms. Rubin's drama class at Los Amigos High School in Fountain Valley met a number of performers from the Broadway show War Horse who were living their dreams at Segerstrom Center this past two weeks. On Friday, February 1, the class attended a performance and met several cast members afterwards in Founders Hall. The aspiring young actors had the opportunity to quiz their new mentors about the show and their careers. Check out a photo of the group below!
(01/26/2013) - Audiences coming to Segerstrom Center for the Arts to see the Tony Award winning show WAR HORSE can explore a special interactive lobby exhibit illustrating the artistry and history behind the show as well as WWI artifacts and uniforms. They will learn more about the magnificent 'Joey' puppet created by Handspring Puppet Company, see behind-the-scenes footage featuring Adrian Kohler and Basil Jones - puppet designers for WAR HORSE, try their hand at operating a puppet created in the style of 'Young Joey' and learn from an American WWI soldier about what life might have been like during 'The War to End all Wars.' (01/07/2013) - Performances for the upcoming national tour of FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL, the stage adaptation of the 1983 hit film that defined a generation, begin January 1st and run through January 6 at Pittsburgh's Heinz Hall. At a recent press event, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl officially announced January 1st as FLASHDANCE day. Following the Pittsburgh engagement, FLASHDANCE will embark on a national tour to more than 25 cities in the next seven months with additional bookings to be announced soon. (10/06/2012) - The MainStreet Theatre Company has announced the cast for the first show of its 2012/2013 season: Pinkalicious the Musical. The musical, based on the best selling book for the younger set, is also written by book authors Elizabeth Kann & Victoria Kann, with Music by John Gregor. The story, about a little girl who eats too many cupcakes and turns pink, has been delighting youngsters since its publication in 2006, and the musical celebrates everything pink while reminding kids that sometimes too much of a good thing is... too much!. (05/18/2012) - August Wilson's Jitney, a play about a ragtag group of drivers of gypsy cabs-known as jitneys-closes out SCR's 2011-2012 season, with an all-star cast led by Charlie Robinson, who last wowed SCR audiences in another Wilson hit, Fences. Ron OJ Parson, who has previously directed Jitney at St. Louis Black Rep, directs the show, which runs on the Segerstrom Stage now through June 10. (02/17/2012) - MAN OF LA MANCHA, opened on Broadway in 1965. This Tony Award Winner for Best Musical features one of Broadway's great standards, 'The Impossible Dream,' and takes place during the height of the Spanish Inquisition. While awaiting a hearing with the Inquisition, Miguel de Cervantes presents a play as his defense in a mock trial for the prisoners. In it, he plays Alonso Quijana, a man who has set his own reality aside and becomes Don Quixote De La Mancha. Assisted by Sancho Panza, Quixote attempts to avoid his mortal enemy, the Enchanter, and woo the serving wench and prostitute, Aldonza, who he takes to be the Lady Dulcinea.

(09/21/2011) - Veterans of the Great White Way, such as Kaye Ballard, as well as new comers to the boards of Broadway like Alison Arngrim, joined legend Carol Channing for a Palm Springs EMMY night party with a New York theatrical twist, featuring performances by Tony nominated Jonelle Allen (Two Gentlemen of Verona) singing 'Stormy Weather' and Kamilah Marshall's (Hairspray & Rent) moving rendition of 'Orange Colored Sky,' while Rex Smith (The Scarlet Pimpernel, Grand Hotel & Pirates of Penzance) offered 'This Is The Moment' and Davis Gaines (The Phantom of the Opera & Camelot) revived his role of Cornelius Hackle opposite Ms. Channing by singing 'It Only Takes A Moment,' as well as the still powerful voice of former Vegas and Playboy Club headliner, Barbara Van Orden, whose return to the stage gave patrons a bold and bawdy rendition of Chicago's 'When You're Good To Mama.'
(08/29/2011) - On Saturday August 27, 2011, BroadwayWorld.com's CEO/Editor-in-Chief Robert Diamond, in the midst of Hurricane Irene married actress Jennifer Hallie Rosen after a 17 month engagement. The two were introduced by a friend of Rosen's, who wasn't able to make the wedding, as a result of the weather and warnings throughout all the boroughs. The BroadwayWorld.com News Desk stayed feverish all weekend while the couple said 'I Do', as news was coming fast about theatre cancellations, schedule changes and travel advisories in addition to all things that were happening in other parts of the country and the world, not affected by the Northeast's local weather.
(05/05/2011) - On Wednesday, May 4, The Segerstrom Center for the Arts in conjunction with Disney Theatrical Productions hosted a perfectly enchanting reception and behind-the-scenes program to meet and greet legendary Academy Award-winning composer Richard Sherman. He was there to help celebrate the upcoming Orange County debut performances of the national touring company of MARY POPPINS, landing at the Center on July 14 for an extended four-week engagement. Hosted by Disney Theatricals producer Thomas Schumacher, the event featured Sherman behind the piano and live performances from the tour's main stars, Steffanie Leigh and Nicolas Dromard.
(04/06/2011) - The brand new musical SUMMER OF LOVE recently had its world premiere at Musical Theatre West and continues through April 17 at the Carpenter Center for the Performing Arts in Long Beach, CA. This original production will be directed by the show's creator and writer, Roger Bean (The Marvelous Wonderettes, Life Could Be A Dream) with choreography by Lee Martino and musical direction by Michael Borth and Michael Paternostro. This production is included in the 2011 FESTIVAL OF NEW AMERICAN MUSICALS.
