SOUTH PACIFIC Plays the Harry Hope Theatre, Now thru 11/24
South Pacific based on the "Tales Of The South Pacific" by James Michener with Music by Richard Rodgers, Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, and Book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan will be directed by Ellen Faith Brodie and will run tonight, November 19-24, 2014 (Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday at 4 p.m.; Monday at 7:30 p.m.) in the Harry Hope Theatre (Shafer Hall ground floor; corner of High and Valley Streets, Willimantic, CT 06226).
South Pacific once again marks a marvelous collaboration between the Music and Theatre programs! Emily Riggs, Assistant Professor of Vocal Music, is Co-Musical Director along with David Vaughan, Conductor of the Willimantic Orchestra and adjunct in Music at Eastern. To note, Jan Jungden returns as guest pianist throughout the rehearsal process and musician in the show along with guest musicians from the region and student musicians from the Music program. The show program will provide additional details regarding the members of the orchestra for the show itself.
Also to note, Alycia Bright-Holland, Assistant Professor of Acting/Movement, is the Choreographer; Jason Wadecki, is Technical Director; David Regan, UA Technical Theatre Assistant and adjunct in the Theatre program, is Scenic Designer; Amanda Whitfield, Assistant Professor of Costume and Fashion Design, is the Costume Designer; Matt Pryke, recent Theatre alumnus, is the Lighting Designer; and Joseph Staffa, Senior Theatre major, is the Sound Designer. It's a terrific team effort!
Admission is free for Eastern students; $5 for Students (other than Eastern) and groups of 10 or more; $10 for Eastern faculty, staff, alumni, and senior citizens; $15 for General public.
