Oddfellows Playhouse Teen Company to Present Original Adaptation of A CHRISTMAS CAROL

The Oddfellows Playhouse Teen Company will open their original adaptation of Charles Dicken's A CHRISTMAS CAROL on December 7th at 7pm.

Actors aged 12 - 18 will be joined by Peter Loffredo, local actor and theater teacher, as Scrooge in this unique production. Appropriate for all ages the production will feature set, sound design, costumes and poster art by local artists.

Performances will continue through December 16th. Full schedule and tickets available at www.oddfellows.org. All performances will be at Oddfellows Playhouse, 128 Washington St. Middletown, CT. Tickets for youth & seniors are $8, for adults $15.

"In these times, youth are concerned about the world they are growing up in. This project has engaged these young actors in a classic text that asked similar questions back in 1834. How we live in the world together is a timeless theme and in this story, Dickens answers that question through Scrooge's transformation," says director Kristen Palmer. Actors have been engaged in choosing sections from the original text and have contributed to the staging and final execution.

The Teen Company at Oddfellows Playhouse is open to youth ages 12 - 19. The company produces 2 - 3 mainstage productions each year, auditions are open to all and actors who commit to the process are cast in a speaking role. Sliding scale, workstudy and financial aid are available to any student in need. The next project this season is a co-production with ArtFarm, AS YOU WISH, a circus theater event. Auditions will be held December 12th & 19th, www.oddfellows.org for more information.

Founded in 1975, the Playhouse's mission is to promote the growth of young people, in skills, knowledge and self-confidence, through the performing arts. It is committed to the art of theater at its most adventurous; to education in the broadest sense of nurturing every student's full potential; and to social justice, building an equitable community and providing opportunities for all children.
