Marc Deaton To Present Concert Of Songs By American Composers At The Deacon John Grave House

Madison Lyric Stage, an award-winning, professional theater company serving the Connecticut Shoreline, will hold its season fundraiser on Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. at its new home, the Deacon John Grave House in Madison's historic town center.

The evening, entitled Spring Will Come Again - Songs of Hopes and Dreams, celebrates the coming of the new season with songs by American composers of art songs, Broadway hits, opera arias and popular classics. Tenor Marc Deaton, accompanied by pianist Keven Smith and cellist Silvio Interlandi, will present American song favorites, including works by Barber, Bernstein, Rorem, Copland, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Sondheim. Joannie Brittingham and John Johmann are guests and will also perform.

The event will feature fantastic food, wine and beer. A highlight of the evening will be a silent auction, featuring apartment stays, private dinners, theater and concert tickets and lots of great merchandise from the area.

"We are thrilled to be presenting our entire 2019 season inside the Deacon John Grave House, so it seems ideal that we host our fundraiser there" said Marc Deaton, artistic director of Madison Lyric Stage. "I'll be presenting some of my favorite songs by American composers, and we will have a warm and intimate evening of food, drink and, most importantly, community."

Tickets for the fundraiser are $50 and can be purchased by visiting madisonlyricstage.org or by calling 203-215-6329. The Deacon John Grave House is located at 581 Boston Post Road in Madison.

Madison Lyric Stage is presenting Carlisle Floyd's opera Of Mice and Men, based on the John Steinbeck classic, in May/June; the Stephen Sondheim fairy tale musical Into the Woods in July; and, for Halloween, Engelbert Humperdinck's enchanted opera Hansel and Gretel in October. Perhaps the most beloved opera of all time, Hansel and Gretel, which will be performed in English, serves as this season's young artist production and is suitable for all ages.

Money-saving subscriptions still available

Madison Lyric Stage will offer money-saving subscriptions for its three mainstage shows - Of Mice and Men, Into the Woods, and Hansel and Gretel. While individual tickets will be priced at $40, season ticket bundles are currently available for a limited time for $99.99 at madisonlyricstage.org or by calling 203-215-6329. Subscription purchasers do not have to select specific nights when buying a subscription and can make those decisions at a later date.
