The Lighthouse Kids plan to march in the Parade with sea shanty-man Geoff Kaufman, who is shown above with SEMI instructor Jody Barthel and students at Nathan Hale Elementary School singing "You can't eat the oysters in New Haven Harbor..." We are pleased to announce that the 2011 International Festival of Arts & Ideas has selected New London's Custom House Maritime Museum as one of only four sites for a special Connecticut Freedom Trail Celebration. On Saturday, May 21, we.will host poet Randall Horton reading a poem he will create this spring for & about the Custom House, the Amistad and freed slave Ben Jones. The reading will take place at noon, just following New London Public School's annual Hope Week Parade and just prior to our 3rd annual
Chowda' Fest.
