The Wilton Playshop will present a special evening of beautiful music when Ray Hornblower, lyric tenor and bel canto specialist, takes to the stage singing songs and arias of Scarlatti, Gluck, Handel, Schubert, Bellini and Mozart. He will be accompanied on piano by William Hobbs, fresh from a stint as assistant conductor at the San Francisco Opera.
Mr. Hornblower describes his style of singing as 'bel canto' the "art of beautiful singing" a style that originated in Italy that requires great technical skill, breath control and acrobatic vocal fluency. The Greenwich native began his singing career as an Opera singer in New York, Washington and Baltimore and then moved his family to France where he performed throughout Europe's most famous concert halls.
The evening of song will begin with a special wine "tour" sponsored by Vintage Wines of Wilton which will be offering a tasting of wines from the countries where Mr. Hormblower's songs originated, including Italy, France and Germany. The wine tasting begins at 5:30 and the performance at 7pm. Tickets for the concert and wine tasting are $35, the performance alone is $25.Make your reservations today!Purchase tickets: Ray Hornblower TicketsSPIRITUAL COUNSELOR ANNA RAIMONDIFollowing the reading, attendees can meet and speak with Anna personally at a wine and cheese reception.
