The School of Music presents Scena Shakespearean: Scenes by the Bard, directed by A. Scott Parry, on Friday, October 4, and Saturday, October 5, at 7:30 pm in Roy Bowen Theatre, Drake Performance and Event Center, 1849 Cannon Dr.
In celebration of the 450th anniversary of
William Shakespeare's birth, the program presents a diverse collection of Shakespeare inspired scenes from the wider operatic and theatrical repertoires with works dating from 1683 to 2004.
Parry chose the program of scenes after an extensive audition process. "Once I got to know the participants' voices and personalities, I selected scenes that I felt would highlight their abilities and show an interesting range of musical styles," he said. The program will feature all scenes performed in English with piano accompaniment.
