It won't be long now until we're singing carols, putting up lights and decorating trees. The holidays will be here before you know it, and Shadowbox Live is ringing in the season with sketch comedy and live music. Get ready for Holiday Hoopla XIX, opening November 18 at the Easton Town Center.
Now in it's 19th year, Holiday Hoopla XIX is a central Ohio Christmas tradition. Full of sketch comedy that pokes fun at our desire to make the holidays perfect, rockin' seasonal tunes from house band BillWho?, and the hilarious musical send-up The Santa Babies, Hoopla never disappoints.
"This year's show is a mix of returning songs and characters with brand new material," said Shadowbox Live Executive Producer and CEO Stev Guyer. "Sketch-wise, we're bringing back the infamous Kids-mas Carol and Shannon's Movie Reivew: A Christmas Story but everything else is new."
In no particular order, Holiday Hoopla XIX sketches will include:
A Super Christmas - When Lois Lane invites her obnoxious family over for Christmas dinner, Superman's patience wears thin. Thankfully, Lex Luther has the perfect solution.
Holiday Customs - With all the tightened airport security nowadays, no one gets by without a thorough inspection. No one. Not even Santa Claus.
It's Not You, Santa, It's Me - Santa brings presents to all the good little girls and boys. But this good little girl has got the wrong idea, and now she has to find a nice way to "break up" with Jolly Ol' St. Nick.
Christmas Eve with the Parents - Sedrick's girlfriend Anjee is finally meeting his overbearing parents. Can their relationship survive?
The Gift Wrapper - What exactly do the gifts we give say to those we love? If you don't know, Helen, the gift wrapper, will have no problem telling you!
Shannon's Movie Reviews: A Christmas Story - Shannon Bannister, age 7, is back to review this holiday favorite.
A Kids-mas Carol - Everyone loves a school play! And these elementary kids are bringing you a very special version of A Christmas Carol.
Songs will include:
Silent Night arranged by BillWho?
The River by Joni Mitchell, arranged by BillWho?
Merry Christmas, Baby by Bruce Springsteen
Father Christmas by The Kinks
Christmas in Hollis by Run DMC
I Believe in Father Christmas by Emerson, Lake, & Palmer
