CCT Hosts Third Annual College Preparatory Program Showcase
This summer, Columbus Children's Theatre (CCT) is hosting its third annual College Preparatory Program. On August 4 at 2:30 p.m. the College Prep students will present their final showcase at CCT's Park St.Theatre, 512 Park St, Columbus, OH 43215. This program will be a selection of songs, scenes, and monologues from various styles and eras of theatre and is free to the public. Directed by Wright State Associate Professor of Acting and Musical Theatre, Greg Hellems, this showcase will be the culmination of four weeks of hard work by the students in this program.
"CCT offers an amazing opportunity to young theatre artists. Not only are they afforded a chance to see great performances from a professional theatre company, they also get valuable information and training from a knowledgeable faculty made up of working professionals.Columbus certainly has a treasure in this organization." said Hellems.
The students in this audition-based program train intensely with faculty members from acclaimed acting, musical theatre, and dance programs to help discover more deeply who they are as artists. The program strives to help students develop this deeper understanding so that they might apply it towards preparing for college auditions at top theatre schools. Students are pushed to their limits as they explore characters in monologues and songs in preparation for these auditions.
For more than fifty years, Columbus Children's Theatre (CCT) has been the driving force in Central Ohio inspiring, enriching, and empowering the imaginations of children and their families through Live Theatre and theatre education. Each year over 100,000 young people and their families have the opportunity to participate in all facets of the theatre arts through three core programs: The Theatre Series, The Professional Touring Company, and The Academy.
