PlayhouseSquare Offers Free Holiday Theater Tour, Dec 1

By:

December 1st's free Holiday Tour of PlayhouseSquare will showcase theaters decorated in their holiday finest while offering up backstage glimpses, interesting facts and fun anecdotes about the largest performing arts complex outside New York City…PlayhouseSquare.

The indoor tours depart from the State Theatre Lobby (1519 Euclid. Ave.) beginning at 10 am, Saturday, Dec. 1st, leaving at 15-minute intervals, with the last tour departing at 11:30 am. This will be only the second time the theaters have been open to tours in the month of December. (December was usually skipped in the year’s schedule of free monthly tours.)

Tour guests will receive a collectible “Princess of the Palace” holiday ornament, holiday cookies and an official PlayhouseSquare 90th Anniversary commemorative pin. Specially discounted $2.00 parking will be available for arrivals between 9:30 and 11 a.m. December 1st in The PlayhouseSquare Parking Garage (Chester Ave. at E. 15th across from the Greyhound Bus Station).

January through November free tours of Playhouse Square’s historic theaters are also conducted only on the first Saturday of each month. No reservations are needed for individual participants for these first-Saturday-of-the-month tours, but groups of 10-or-more are asked to call ahead to Carol Lee Vella at 216-640-8531 so arrangements can be made for their group. The 2013 tour schedule begins January 5th.

Private tours on other days and hours are also available for companies, social, church or high school reunion groups and may be arranged by calling Carol Lee Vella at 216-640-8531.

PlayhouseSquare is a not-for-profit performing arts center that presents and produces a wide variety of performing arts programs; it advances arts education and creates a destination that is a superior location for entertainment, business and residential housing, thereby strengthening the economic vitality of the region.
