The Alternative Theatre Company (LGBTQ theatre) Is looking for volunteers for upcoming NYC production ofA WANING GIBBOUS MOONOCT-DEC (2019)BECOME A PART OF THE VOLUNTEER TEAMThe Alternative Theatre Company is a nonprofit LBTQ theatre that relies on the dedication and passion of our volunteers. Our team of helpers make our high-quality productions possible. We would love to have you join us!MISCELLANEOUS POSITIONS (ages 18+)We always have positions that require special expertise, particularly in the areas of costume shop etc. If you have special talents and interests in these areas, we?d like to talk with you. Miscellaneous project hours vary according to the project. All internships are unpaid and come with no guarantee of future employment.VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:The volunteer is NOT required to be earning credit for the experienceThe volunteer must be able to provide their own transportation and local housingCOSTUME VOLUNTEERThe current show requires simple street costumes. The building of these costumes, as well as their maintenance, is often done by a talented group of volunteers. If sewing skills and a love for theatre costumes are yours, join our ATC costume volunteers!PROPERTIES COORDINATORProperties, or "props", are all of the small pieces on the set or carried on by actors in a production such as books, housewares and food. The properties coordinator collects or constructs props during a show's rehearsal period and attends Tech Week rehearsals to make sure all the props are ready for the performance run. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/STAGE MANAGERThese positions are responsible for the smooth running of the production, from auditions to the last performance and strike. Duties include organizing rehearsals with the director, noting the blocking of actors, setting up the stage for rehearsals, and backstage management of all performances. The stage manager is often the first one in the building and the last one to leave. These are critical and demanding volunteer roles.PRODUCTION ASSISTANTUsually involved in a production from pre-production through opening, a PA helps get the space ready, runs errands, sets props, and does anything necessary to support the Stage Management team.RUNNING CREW/DRESSERThe Running Crew consists of volunteers who execute all of the backstage changes during a production. Running Crew volunteers work each night of a production; however, sometimes people can split the run of a show. The Running Crew is supervised by the Stage Manager and works closely with the actors. Some crew may be assigned to oversee the costumes during a performance run.
