Digital Marketing Specialist - New Jersey Symphony Orchestra

DIGITAL MARKETING SPECIALIST



Status: Full Time Exempt

Reports to: Director of Marketing



Core responsibilities: to provide content production for website and email and assist with general marketing support. This position reports to the Director of Marketing.



- Provide website content updates for the entire organization on an ongoing basis.

- Create and proof email campaigns (eNews, Concert Reminders, Concert Codas, Special Offers & Promotions, Student Offers, Development eAppeals and other targeted emails).

- Assist the Director of Marketing with generating reports and analyzing metrics for digital communications, including the website, broadcast email and online advertising. Recommend strategies to improve the user experience and increase the conversion rate based on analysis of current trends.

- Provide general marketing support to the department.



The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for ensuring all NJSO digital communications are engaging and user friendly, and provides regular analysis to support ongoing changes and refinement to strategy.



Broadcast Email Content and Development; Marketing Automation Campaigns (50%)

- Develop custom HTML mobile-responsive email templates for all campaigns. Ensure compatibility with email platforms by testing on multiple devices.

- Create list segments and work with the Marketing Automation vendor on new campaign initiatives.

- Using marketing automation and A/B testing, research and suggest ways to improve broadcast email open rates, improve click thru rates, decrease email subscriber churn and improve the user experience.

- Provide weekly reports and analysis of broadcast email campaign effectiveness.

- Build, proof and compile edits for broadcast bi-weekly eNews, Concert Reminders before each concert, Concert Codas after each concert, Special Promotions, Development eAppeals and other emails.

- Maintain the broadcast email lists by removing inactive records and adding qualified new records in accordance with the CAN-SPAM and GDPR laws.

- Ensure the NJSO does not become blacklisted by ISPs through careful creation of content, proper list maintenance and adherence to CAN-SPAM and GDPR laws.



Website Content and Development (35%)

- Create, proof and compile edits for website content. Ensure website design is consistent with the NJSO Style Guide.

- Perform daily maintenance of organization-wide website content, including homepage, event detail information and all other institutional content.

- Assist the Patron Services team with HTML content requests for the eCommerce platform, eVenue.

- Conduct analysis and create reports on the effectiveness of website and online advertising campaigns. Review and suggest eCommerce changes and strategy with the goal of reducing transactional friction during the purchase process.

- Research website best practices and implement changes with a focus on continually improving user experience and patron engagement.

- Ensure the website is optimized for mobile device support.

- Implement best practices for SEO, ensuring the NJSO website ranks high in internet search results. Work with the NJSO's digital agency on SEM initiatives, specifically relating to links and keyword content.

- Analyze site content and site navigation performance in Google Analytics and suggest strategies for improvement.

- Coordinate with the NJSO digital agency for technical-related items (tracking codes, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager administration, etc.).

- Oversee NJSO-owned domains and keep track of domain renewal periods.



Digital Graphic Design (5%)

- Create engaging and impactful design for website graphics, email graphics and other digital platforms.

- Resize existing NJSO artwork as needed for NJSO Venue Partner websites.



Administrative Marketing Department Support (10%)

- Serve as the Marketing department representative at an average of 25-30 concerts and events a year, primarily on evenings and weekends.

- Provide back-up for monitoring social channels during events.

- Proofread printed marketing materials, as needed.

- Attend and actively participate in weekly meeting with direct supervisor and all team meetings.

- Actively contribute to the marketing team, report on analytics weekly, and develop and implement digital marketing strategies to meet institutional objectives.

- Serve as backup for emergency online ticketing needs, including system outages, online ticket issues, content updates on the eCommerce site, etc.

- Perform various administrative tasks, such as data entry, file maintenance, brochure distribution and poster distribution, as needed.

- Perform additional marketing-related tasks and projects as assigned.



Qualifications

- Advanced HTML knowledge required.

- A Bachelor's degree in a related field. (Marketing, Graphic/Digital Design, Arts Administration)

- 2-5 years of strong digital marketing and graphic design experience, preferably in an organization that presents events.

- Comfortable using Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Campaign (or similar marketing automation software) and Adobe Photoshop.

- Working knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Webmaster tools.

- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

- Experience in a role that requires a collaborative team approach.

- Advanced organizational skills with a strong work ethic.

- Strong communication skills, including superb writing and editing skills.

- Broad understanding of basic marketing principles, online community building and consumer trends.

- Must be able to physically work in our Newark, NJ, office.

- Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some holidays; and provide own transportation to multiple NJSO performance venues.

- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.



Salary and Benefits: NJSO offers a competitive salary and benefits package, but does not offer relocation expenses.



Hours: Full time. Expectation is to work business hours, between 8 am and 6 pm. Additional evenings and weekends are required, specifically for working concerts in multiple locations throughout northern New Jersey and promotional onsales.
