San Francisco Playhouse
San Francisco Playhouse is the second-largest nonprofit theatre company in San Francisco. Having grown from storefront to 200-seat theatre in just 10 years, we are powered by a team of energetic and innovative theatre lovers. Founded in 2003 as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit theatre company, our programming includes a six-play mainstage season and a three-play Sandbox Series of world premieres, plus a Rising Star Education Program for high school students. The Casting Director is responsible for maintaining the artistic vision of San Francisco Playhouse in all casting decisions for our Mainstage and Sandbox productions.

Hours: 20 - 29 hours per week
Status: Part-time; hourly; non-exempt.
KEY Responsibilities:
Reports directly to Artistic Director (AD). Serves as principal resource for all Casting.
- Advises Directors on Casting Choices
- Casts all productions as per casting budget as agreed by producers
- Ensures all casting fulfills AEA obligations in regards to contracted season ratio, individual production quotas and contract limits
- Organizes casting calls per Equity Requirements
- Negotiates AEA casting offers in accordance with Equity Rulebook
- Negotiates Non-AEA casting offers in accordance with local, state and federal law
- Runs all offers and contract changes by Administrative Manager to ensure compliance and feasibility
- Makes formal written offers to all AEA and Non-AEA principal cast and understudies
- Updates Casting Sheet with names, union status and contact information
- Ensures Casting Database and Files are Up-to-Date
- Schedules auditions and updates company calendars accordingly
- Coordinates schedule and priorities for Casting Associate(s)
- Delegates and Advises interns assigned to Audition sessions as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree, preferable in Theatre or Performing Arts; OR comparable work experience in Casting
- 3-5 years’ experience in Casting
- Proficiency with Filemaker PRO or comparable Database software
- Experience and Familiarity with Actors’ Equity Association or one of the other 4-A Unions
- Basic to Intermediate Level in Microsoft Office Suite (incl Word & Excel)
Compensation:
- $20-25 per hour, DOE ?
