Cincinnati Shakespeare Summer Camp 2012 Registration Closes This Week

Shakespeare Summer Camp is a one-week theater day camp for middle school and high school students who want to learn more about the art of theatre. Campers work with members of the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company Resident Ensemble (including Actor's Equity members), learning acting, stage combat, movement, and text analysis for the actor. This exciting camp has grown into a three-tiered program for students of all levels of experience. Hosted by Xavier University in the Gallagher Student Center, registration for 2012 closes this week. Cincinnati Shakespeare Company Names Jay Woffington as Executive Director

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company has hired Jay Woffington, former CEO of Bridge Worldwide and Global President of Possible Worldwide, as its new Executive Director. Woffington will start with the company July 1.
Beck Center for the Arts and Connect to Beck Present BIKE FOR BECK Today, 5/19

Beck Center for the Arts and Connect to Beck (C2B) are hosting the first annual Bike for Beck tour today, May 19, 2012. Cyclists of all ages are invited to participate. The bike tour begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Beck Center, located at 17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood, and continues through the Metroparks. Bike for Beck is followed by an afternoon of arts and entertainment on the Beck Center campus. Proceeds from this fundraising event benefit Beck Center's arts education programs.

Four couples-gay, lesbian, biracial and white hetero-share separate tables in a restaurant. Each wants to start a family. Their overlapping dinner conversations soon turn to artificial insemination, adoption, and tubal ligation. Thus begins "The Next Table," one of five one-act plays that comprise "Love Knots (a love-fest of short plays)" by playwright Philip Paradis, premiering at the 9th annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival, which runs May 29-June 9.
Roger Adams, Music Hall Technical Director, Passes Away at 68

The Cincinnati Arts Association, the Music Hall resident arts organizations, and friends and family of Music Hall mourn the loss of Roger Adams, Music Hall's beloved Technical Director since 1994. Roger died at his home on Monday, May 14.

Two slightly loopy time-traveling Victorian women, eager for membership to The Royal Geographic Society, are setting course for the 2012 Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Cecily and Gwendolyn's Fantastical Cincinnati Anthropological Inquisitorial Probe will take place Thursday, May 31-Friday, June 8 at 1425 Main, 1425 Main Street, Cincinnati. Cincinnati Shakespeare Company concludes its fantastic and popular eighteenth season with William Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice" opening tonight, May 11. This production features CSC Producing Artistic Director Brian Isaac Phillips as Shylock, CSC Ensemble Member Kelly Mengelkoch as Portia and introducing to Cincinnati audiences, Jared Joplin as Antonio, the Merchant of Venice. "The Merchant of Venice" opens tonight and runs through June 3 2012. The production design is generously sponsored by Taft, Stettinius and Hollister.

Featuring Billy Chace, Travis McElroy and Nick Rose, "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" opens June 8, 2011 and runs through June 30, 2012.

Renamed Canal Corners Farm & Market, the picturesque Gleeson farm house, built in 1853, and the massive, red barn, raised in 1905, is a stone's throw from the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. This summer, families visiting the park and exploring the Towpath Trail will have the opportunity to visit the big, red barn, step back into Ohio history and see the canal journey of a life-time, The Lantern Theatre production of Singin' on the Ohio.

The exhibition will be on display in the Aronoff Center's Fifth Third Bank Theater (7th & Main Streets in downtown Cincinnati) from Saturday, May 5 - Sunday, May 13, 2012. Exhibition hours are Friday, 4:00 - 8:00 PM; Saturday, 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM; and Sunday, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The Student Art Show is free and open to the public.
