Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park has received a $44,815 grant from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation to upgrade its heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. In addition, it also received $20,000 from the Eleanora C.U. Alms Trust, Fifth Third Bank, Trustee to fund the project.

The grants will allow The Playhouse to upgrade the current HVAC system, which is more than 12 years old. The existing system features outdated pneumatic controllers, which are unable to make minor adjustments to the temperature when necessary, resulting in poor control and increased energy usage.

According to Producing Artistic Director Ed Stern, "We are delighted to receive these grants to allow us to upgrade our HVAC system and ensure our patrons are able to see theatre more comfortably. Through the grants, we are also able to reduce the facility's energy usage and costs."

The work will be completed for the 2011 - 2012 season by Geiler Mechanical Contractors.

The Playhouse is supported, in part, by the generosity of the tens of thousands of individuals and businesses that give to ArtsWave.

The Ohio Arts Council helps fund The Playhouse with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

The Playhouse also receives funding from the Shubert Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
