The Theatre School at DePaul University's Showcase Series of Contemporary Plays and Classics presents THIEVES LIKE US, by Damon Kiely, adapted from the novel by Edward Anderson, and directed by Kimberly Senior. This tale about the American Southwest opens Friday, May 14, and runs through Sunday, May 23, 2010, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Previews are on May 12 and 13 at 7:30 PM.

1937. Glamor. Dust Bowl. Bank Robbers. Romance. This new adaptation of Anderson's noir classic follows Bowie Bowers as he break out of prison and must choose between a life of crime and the new love of his life. Thieves Like Us features the Class of 2010 Master of Fine Arts in Acting Candidates.

DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre is located at 60 E. Balbo Drive at Michigan, Chicago. Kimberly Senior (Director) has worked professionally in Chicago in a variety of positions for the past 15 years. Most recently, Kimberly directed MAURITIUS for TheaterSquared in Fayetteville, AR. In Chicago, Kimberly directed the critically acclaimed productions of UNCLE VANYA (Strawdog), THE PILLOWMAN (RedTwist), ALL MY SONS (TimeLine Theatre Company) and THE OVERWHELMING (Next). She is the founder and company member emeritus of Collaboraction Theatre Company, where she directed and/or produced over 30 plays and theatrical experiences, most notably the company's lauded Sketchbook festival, for seven years. Kimberly also serves as an Artistic Associate with Strawdog Theater and Chicago Dramatists. Other directing credits include DOLLY WEST'S KITCHEN at TimeLine Theatre Company; Young Playwrights Festival at Pegasus Players;
Narnia for Emerald City Theatre Company; Bold Girls, Seanachai; the midwest premiere of PATTY RED PANTS, Blackbird Productions; and the world premiere of MOUSE COP, at Noble Fool Theater. In addition, she has directed for Adventure Stage Chicago, Estrogen Fest, Maxwell Street Historic Preservation Coalition, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, Shakespeare's Motley Crew, Northlight Theatre, RoadWorks ProductionsNorthwestern University, College of DuPage, Oakton Community College,
National Louis University, and WFMT Radio, among others. As an educator, Kimberly spent ten years as both an administrator and Resident Artist with Steppenwolf for Young Adults. In addition, Kimberly either ran programs or taught for Court Theater, Northlight Theater, Redmoon
Theater, RoadWorks Productions, Victory Gardens, Metropolis, Act One Studios, and Acting Studio Chicago. Currently she is adjunct faculty at DePaul University where she teaches Theatrical Collaboration and Columbia College where she teaches Chekhov, Dramaturgy, and Text Analysis. Kimberly also serves as Program Director for Steppenwolf's First Look Repertory of New Work.

The cast of THIEVES LIKE US features Mark Boergers (Jasbo, Ted, Officer, Bill Lambert, Plumber, Hawkins), Steve Brian (T-Dub), Stephanie Chavara (Keechie), Meg Elliot (Ms. Biggerstaff, Cook, Mrs. Lufkin, Nurse, Grocery Lady) Bridget Haight (Mattie, Mother at Bus Stop), Sarah August Hecht (Old Girl, Lula, Tourist, Hurt Woman), Jonathan Kitt (Dee, Mr. Berger, Stammers, Waiter, Ticket Clerk), Kyle Pepperell (Bowie), Lucy Sandy (Fabulous Torch Singer), and Dustin Whitehead (Chicamaw).

The production staff includes Kimberly Senior (Director), Zach DeLuc (Lighting Design), Brendan Boston (Scenic Design), Miranda Scharf (Dramaturg), Carmen Briwa (Costume Design), Nick Gajary (Sound Design), and Rose Streit (Stage Management).

SPECIAL EVENTS: An Opening Night Party will be held after the performance on May 14. A post-show discussion with the cast and members of the production staff will be held on Sunday, May 16. On DePaul Night, May 19, tickets are $3 for all students and $6 for DePaul alumni and employees with valid ID. The performance on Sunday, May 23 (2 PM) will be interpreted in American Sign Language.
