The House Theatre of Chicago Hosts First GAME NIGHT WITH PETER SAGAL Tonight

By:

The House Theatre of Chicago is excited to announce their first-ever Game Night with Peter Sagal, the host of NPR's quiz game show, Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!, tonight, Oct. 18, 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. at Catalyst Ranch, the innovative event space at 656 W. Randolph, in Chicago's West Loop. Event tickets are $30 and include admission, unlimited game play, pizza and beer. Prize drawing entries are also available for $5 each, with prizes including a tabletop game package and a Wait Wait... prize package. This event is for ages 21+. Tickets are on sale through The House Theatre of Chicago by calling 773.769.3832 or at theHouseTheatre.com.

Game Night with Peter Sagal is curated and co-hosted by local co-creator of the popular indie game, Cards Against Humanity, Max Temkin. Sagal and Temkin will instruct guests on how to play a selection of interactive art games, video games and tabletop classics. In addition, guests will get the chance to play Temkin's yet-unreleased interactive card game, Slap .45, which recently completed a Kickstarter with over 2,000 backers.

"The House's work focuses on the social potential of theatrical storytelling, and so many new indie game designers are looking at some similar questions about storytelling inside games: How do we get people to laugh and cry together, to have a shared and unforgettable experience with friends and strangers alike? I'm so honored to have Peter and Max lend their formidable talents, and just downright fun-loving sprits to our first foray into connecting our worlds," said Nathan Allen, The House's Artistic Director.

Prior to becoming host of Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me in 1998, Peter had a varied career including stints as a playwright, screenwriter, stage director, actor, extra in a Michael Jackson video, travel writer, essayist, ghostwriter and staff writer for a motorcycle magazine. In October 2007, Harper Collins published Peter's first book, The Book of Vice: Naughty Things and How to Do Them, a series of essays about bad behavior, which was released in paperback in 2008. He lives in the Chicago area and serves on the Board of Directors for The House Theatre of Chicago.

Temkin is a designer from Chicago. He is a co-creator of the tabletop games Cards Against Humanity, and created Humans vs. Zombies, Werewolf, and published the video game Samurai Gun. Active in the political and non-profit sectors, Temkin designs and consults for clients such as Barack Obama, the Hotel Rwanda Rusesabagina Foundation, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. He serves on the DonorsChoose.org's National Advisory Council.
