Renaissance Chicago Hosts Steampunk-Inspired World's Fair Event

By:

On May 17, 2017, Renaissance Hotels across the globe will celebrate their sixth annual Global Day of Discovery, created to inspire business travelers to experience "Business Unusual" from "5 to 9" with as much vigor as they approach their "9 to 5." As part of the yearly celebration, Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel, 1 West Wacker, will be inviting travelers to experience the historic World's Fair with a new 21st century flair at their "Conservatory of Curiosities" event. Taking place in Staytion Market & Bar, from 5pm - 7pm, the elevated happy hour event will feature themed cocktails, small bites, and Staytion's signature Bar Ritual.

This year's Global Day of Discovery event, sure to be an unexpected experience, will pay homage to the 1893 World's Fair, and will feature live entertainment in various areas throughout the main lobby. To kick off the event, Staytion's mixologist will ring the bell at exactly 5pm and offer guests the signature punch of the day, part of their daily bar ritual, signaling the start of "5 to 9." The fully transformed lobby will usher discoverers into an otherworldly experience with inspiring and whimsical performances around every corner. From a stilt walker and magicians to contortionists and live musical performances, the "Conservatory of Curiosities" event is designed to defy the notion of "conventional" business travel for those visiting Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel.

Along with savory small bites, Staytion's creatively costumed mixologist will be serving up steampunk inspired cocktails from their traditional absinthe fountain station. The themed cocktails include the Angry Mule, made with absinthe, ginger beer, and lemon juice, the Sunflower, with absinthe and Plymouth Gin and the Heart of Ruby, a citrus cocktail made with Cynar and grapefruit juice.

Dedicated to making business travel a little less usual, Renaissance will host 160+ events in 35 countries around the world that spotlight local and independent businesses as part of their Global Day of Discovery. This once-a-year celebration highlights the unexpected events and local experiences that Renaissance Hotels bring to life every day around the world.

Staytion Market & Bar's hours are Monday-Wednesday 11am-1am Thursday & Friday 11am-2am Saturday 10am-2am Sunday 11am-1am. For menus and more information please visit www.staytionbar.com.
