Pivot Arts Receives $12,000 Grant from National Endowment for the Arts

Pivot Arts is thrilled to announce that the more than $82 million awarded for arts projects nationwide in the National Endowment for The Arts' second round for FY17 includes a $12,000 Art Works grant awarded to Pivot Arts. As a four year-old organization, Pivot Arts only recently became eligible to apply to the NEA for funding, and this national recognition marks a major step forward for the organization.

The grant will go towards funding a fall performance that takes place in the form of a site-specific tour in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood and highlights the stories of diverse residents. Pivot Arts was recognized for its multidisciplinary focus and the project will include artists from several performance disciplines. Devon de Mayo, a director who focuses on devised works, will direct.

The NEA received 1,728 Art Works applications and will make 1,029 grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000. Fifty-two grants were awarded in Illinois. "The arts reflect the vision, energy, and talent of America's artists and arts organizations," said NEA Chairman Jane Chu. "The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support organizations such as Pivot Arts, in serving their communities by providing excellent and accessible arts experiences."
