Music Institute of Chicago Offers New Ravinia Class For Adults 6/9-7/28

By:

To enhance the experience of concerts at Ravinia for classical music aficionados, the Music Institute of Chicago presents "Ravinia Highlights Preview," led by faculty member Stephanie Ettelson. The eight-week class runs June 9-July 28, every Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Music Institute's Winnetka campus, 300 Green Bay Road.

Focusing on "The Art of Listening," classes will explore selected symphonic fare on Chicago Symphony Orchestra programs at the Ravinia Festival prior to their performance. Recorded illustrations will include works by Beethoven, Berlioz, Brahms, Liszt (commemorating his 200th birthday), Tchaikovsky, and Stravinsky. There are no prerequisites and all are welcome to attend, novice and experienced concertgoer alike.

About Stephanie Ettelson
Stephanie Ettelson has presented pre-concert lectures, classes, and workshops on symphonic and chamber music for more than four decades. As an orchestral and chamber music violinist, as well as an arts writer and former music critic, she brings a unique approach to "The Art of Listening" for the adult concertgoer.
