Building upon the popular and critical success of its sixth season, the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park will launch its seventh season this fall 2010 with a collection of intimate and culturally diverse experiences featuring some of the world's greatest musicians, dance companies and artistic visionaries, as well as an exciting selection of performances by the city's most acclaimed music and dance institutions.

The Harris Theater's Fall 2010 is filled with premieres and debuts by individuals and organizations seldom seen in Chicago, including the Chicago premiere of Philip Glass' new Violin Concerto No. 2: The American Four Seasons performed by the Venice Baroque Orchestra, with acclaimed violinist Robert McDuffie; the first Chicago performance by New York City's Ballet Hispanico, under the new leadership of Luna Negra Dance Theater Founder Eduardo Vilaro; the return of internationally heralded Sphinx Chamber Orchestra joined by the Harlem Quartet; the Harris debut of Gidon Kremer's exciting young chamber orchestra, Kremerata Baltica; and the return of Harris favorite the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company.

Chicago's most acclaimed institutions will also be featured including Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Luna Negra Dance Theater, Chicago Jazz Ensemble, and Music of the Baroque, celebrating its 40th anniversary this season.

"Following the resounding critical success of the sixth season, the Harris Theater looks forward to our seventh season-one that truly exemplifies the Theater's commitment of supporting new work and presenting exemplary artists performing innovative programming you cannot find elsewhere in Chicago," said Michael Tiknis, President and Managing Director.
"Our world-class resident companies, the most prolific performing arts organizations in Chicago today, and the internationally renowned artists featured on our Harris Theater Presents series will perform numerous premieres and debuts, and will also share milestone celebrations with our audiences. This unique programming paired with the intimate size of the venue, incredible acoustics and sightlines at the Harris, makes every performance one to remember."

The Harris Theater is pleased to announce that UBS is serving as the 2010-2011 Season Sponsor. The 2010-2011 Season has been made possible with support from United Airlines, the Official Airline of the Harris Theater. The Harris Theater gratefully acknowledges the Irving Harris Foundation for its leadership support of the Presenting Fund, established in 2006 to bring to Chicago artists or ensembles of the highest caliber which would normally not be seen here in order to complement the works of the Theater's resident companies and build audiences. All performances are on The Elizabeth Morse Genius Stage. The Harris Theater is partially supported by the CityArts Program 4 grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.

Single tickets to the Harris Theater Presents performances are on sale now; tickets to all Harris Theater performances will be on sale August 31 at noon. Tickets are available at the Harris Theater box office located in Millennium Park at 205 E. Randolph Dr., by calling 312-334-7777 or by visiting www.harristheaterchicago.org.

Hailing from Szechuan, China, the classically trained musicians, dancers, and vocalists perform using traditional Chinese instruments like the ruan, pipa and suona. The breath-taking performance invokes centuries of history and culture from ancient Chinese melodies to the hip and contemporary music of today in a visual and aural tapestry.
