Enrollment Now Open for Light Opera Works' Musical Theater Winter Workshop

Light Opera Works is currently taking enrollments for the Musical Theater Winter Workshop, to be held December 30, 2013 through January 4, 2014.

Young people ages 8 to 13 learn singing, dancing and acting in preparation for a public performance on Saturday, where family and friends are invited to watch them perform a mini-musical version of DISNEY'S THE JUNGLE BOOK KIDS. Every child is guaranteed a part in the show.

Workshop classes are Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm (January 1, noon to 4:00 pm), with a final dress rehearsal on Saturday at 1:00 pm and the public performance at 4:00 pm.

Workshop manager is Anya Plotkin, a member of the team who created the company's popular Summer Workshop in 2001. She works to create an environment where children have the unique opportunity to develop confidence in a nurturing, non-threatening and fun atmosphere. Workshop director/choreographer is Caryn Ott Hillman. Musical director is Christopher Richard.

Workshop classes are held at the Light Opera Works rehearsal center, 516 4th Avenue in Wilmette. Saturday performances are at Light Opera Works Second Stage at McGaw YMCA Children's Center Auditorium, 1420 Maple Avenue in Evanston. The fee is $350 per student.
