Champaign Urbana Theatre Company announces auditions for a revival of our inaugural show-THE MUSIC MAN

An affectionate paean to Smalltown, U.S.A., of a bygone era, Meredith Willson's "The Music Man" follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize - despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. But his plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the town librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.
Auditions for children (ages 7 to 12) will be on Friday, June 3, from 6-9 p.m. Please have boys familiar with "Gary, Indiana" and girls with "Goodnight, My Someone." Auditions for adults will be on Saturday, June 4, from 10-5 p.m. and Sunday, June 5, from 12-5 p.m. Callbacks, if necessary, will be on Sunday evening.

Auditions are by appointment. To select your time, please call 217-344-3884. Walk-ins are welcome, but priority will be given to those with an appointment. For the audition, each person is to sing 16 to 32 bars of a song (songs from "The Music Man" are welcome). Please wear comfortable clothing for the dance audition; dance shoes are preferred, but no flip-flops.
Auditions will be held at CUTC's old office location at 208 W. Main St. in Urbana (The Busey Center).

The show will be performed at Parkland College Theatre from August 4-7 and 11-14. The rehearsal location will be announced after auditions. There may be an occasional Saturday dance rehearsal.

Any additional questions can be answered through CUTC's main office at 217-344-3884.
