BEST MUSICAL! Set for Limited Run at UP Comedy Club, Now thru 11/6

Porchlight Music Theatre has announced that BEST MUSICAL! A Completely Improvised Musical Comedy, conceived by Matthew Loren Cohen, after having enjoyed three critically acclaimed, sold-out runs at Porchlight, will now be presented for a limited run at UP Comedy Club, 230 W. North Ave. Performances are Wednesdays at 8 p.m., today, October 2 - November 6. Single tickets are $20 and are on sale at upcomedyclub.com or by calling 312.662.4562.

Originally presented in Porchlight's new musical works development program, Off the Porch, in February 2012, BEST MUSICAL! combines the forces of Chicago's hottest music theatre/improv stars, audience participation and a bouncy piano beat. Conceived by Second City veteran Matthew Loren Cohen, each performance begins at "The Bestie Awards" a fictitious theatre award ceremony with the cast performing the "Best Song from a Musical" nominees from a grab bag of audience-suggested titles. At the end of Act 1, the audience votes for the best song and comes back after intermission to see and hear the cast create an entire original fully improvised (with staging, costumes and choreography) musical comedy, including the audience suggested song from Act 1, now in context of it's whole story. Each performance guarantees a completely different musical comedy with completely new story and songs every week.
