Jacques Brel was a Belgian singer and actor who composed and performed literate, thoughtful, and theatrical songs that generated a large, devoted following—initially in Belgium and France, later throughout the world. He is considered a master of the modern chanson (a music hall or cabaret song). This show is a musical revue of Brel songs that were translated into English by Eric Blau and Mort Shuman, who also provided the story.
