Hadestown: Teen Edition is the youth adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical with music, lyrics, and book by Anaïs Mitchell, set in a mythic Depression-era world where the gods walk among mortals. The show weaves together the love stories of Orpheus and Eurydice and the marriage of Hades and Persephone, drawing on American folk, blues, jazz, and roots music. The production is directed by Charissa Moye with co-director and sound designer Ashley Shaw, and features two full casts — Lilly White and Poppy Red — with more than 60 young performers from across the York community. It is a co-production between DreamWrights Center for Community Arts and Weary Arts Group.
