Ware Center Hosts Arts Season Season Sneak Peek Tonight

By:

The Ware Center of Millersville University and Fig Lancaster Magazine have teamed up to throw a party-and everyone is invited. The "Arts Season Preview Event at the Ware Center," will take place at the Ware Center in downtown Lancaster tonight, Aug. 19, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with the aim to give attendees a sneak peek at the many cultural offerings planned for the fall season, as well as a one-time opportunity to purchase season tickets before they go on sale to the public, September 2.

"This is the first time we are doing a preview event like this but we are so excited to share the new season we just couldn't wait" said Laura Kendall, director of Millersville University's Office of Visual and Performing Arts. Attendees will be treated to energetic and thrilling entertainment in the form of hoop dance, hip-hop, and music of DJ Freez, while fantastically costumed characters mingle in the crowd and provide comedic distraction. Food and refreshments will be provided by Aussie & the Fox, Miesse Candies, and Carmen & David's Creamery.

Attendees who take advantage of purchasing season tickets for the Ware Center's fall program early will get a free ticket to the Sept. 28th performance of GroundWorks Dance Theater at the Ware Center, as well as the opportunity to reserve their space for events that are likely to sell out, including the Roaring Twenties "speakeasy" featuring New York City jazz band The Hot Sardines, a concert by world-renowned clarinetist Wenzel Fuchs, award-winning actor/director/playwright, Frank Ferrante in An Evening with Groucho, and the one-man show, FDR, starring TV and movie star Ed Asner - among many other musical and theatrical performances in the fall lineup.

This event is free admission, though reservations are required, and can be made at figlancaster.splashthat.com, or by calling 717-871-2308.

Discount parking vouchers for the Prince Street Garage, located at the corner of North Prince and West Orange street, are available at the Front Desk of the Ware Center, 42 North Prince Street, Lancaster, PA.
