THE LIAR Announced As Dreamwrights' 2019 Season Opener

DreamWrights Center for Community Arts kicks off its 2019 Season - Celebrating Life - with the comedy The Liar on Feb. 1.

Director and DreamWrights' Artistic Director Laurie Riffe calls The Liar an "incredibly smart and funny play." Written in the 1600's by Pierre Corneille, it's a "wild and colorful comedy that has us all roaring with laughter each night in the rehearsal room."

Riffe is a self-proclaimed fan of Shakespeare and iambic pentameter, and loves that The Liar brings this language to life. "This play requires a ton of physical and vocal energy from all the actors, and it has been so thrilling to see all of them jump into the process with such joy and gusto," Riffe said.

The Liar is the first play to kick off the Celebrating Life season because Riffe said it's a "joyful celebration of love, friendship, courage, passion and the imagination." She believes the play will lift audience members' spirits. Riffe "hopes that the production will allow people to reflect on their own lives, and the reality (or fiction) that they each present to others in our society."

The Liar opens Friday, Feb. 1 in the Studio at DreamWrights. It runs through Feb. 8 with performances at 3 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 if ordered in advance or $17 at the door. The show is recommended for ages 13 and up. Get tickets and more information at DreamWrights.org.

All 2019 studio shows are sponsored by York Traditions Bank, and this show is also sponsored by Adams Electric Cooperative.
