DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre is pleased to announce Robert McCleary, of York Pa., as the nonprofit's new technical director. McCleary's primary responsibility is to support volunteers in preparing the critical behind-the-scenes details of all DreamWrights' shows while assuring a safe and enjoyable learning experience.

"We are thrilled to have Robert bring his talents and vast experience to our theatre," said Ann Davis, executive director of DreamWrights. "His addition to our team is a great benefit to the hundreds of children and adults who participate in DreamWrights' productions every year."

McCleary has spent the last nine years serving as the technical director of York Little Theatre where he made many friends throughout the production of over 100 plays and musicals. Before his move to York, Pa., McCleary spent 20 years teaching theatre and serving as designer and technical director at Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Va. McCleary has partnered with his wife to write two songs for children's' musicals; worked as property assistant for the movie In a Shallow Grave where he had the opportunity to work with Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey; co-founded a summer theatre festival; and worked on a local crew for bands and tours including David Copperfield, Ice Capades, Sesame St Live, WWE Wrestling, John Mellencamp, Tina Turner, Chicago, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Kenny Rogers, and more.

"I anticipate having a lot of fun with DreamWrights' volunteers while we make their theatrical visions come to life," said McCleary. "Seeing the smiles, especially on children, as they learn about and create theatre is the best part of my job."

DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre in York, Pa., has been offering an interactive theatre experience for the entire family since 1997.
